The cost of supporting a horse at Mitchell Farm is almost $16.5 a day or $6000 per year. The initial $6000 retirement fee paid by the donating owner doesn’t even cover the cost to care for a retiree for one year. It is not unreasonable to assume that some horses will reside with us for 10 years or more. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization that receives no State or Federal funds, Mitchell Farm relies the generosity of animal enthusiasts to help cover the costs of the retired horses' care. Your help and support is essential for Mitchell Farm to continue its mission. Here is a list of ways you, or your group, can help support Mitchell Farm Equine Retirement. 1. Become a member: For $35 per year you can be a member of the Mitchell Farm family and enjoy quarterly newsletters and notification of educational and other events.

2. Sponsor a Horse: For $360 a year or $30 a month you can sponsor a special horse at Mitchell Farm to help with costs of feed. This is a great option for groups, such as Pony Clubs, 4-H and FFA and retirement communities. Partial sponsorships are also possible.

3. Horse Scholarship: Many owners of deserving horses are not able to afford the $6,000 entry fee. Your donation of $6,000 provides entry for such a horse into the program and a brass plaque with your name will be mounted on its stall.

4. Mitchell Farm is pleased to accept any form of support you, or your group, would like to give. Groups might choose to hold benefit horse shows, bake sales or other fund raising events. Whatever your idea, we'd love to hear it. Please call us at 860-886-6767

5. Send a Memorial Contribution: Memorialize a beloved horse or other friend with a gift to MFER, Inc.
